Swedish Massage

Swedish Massage is the systemic and scientific manipulation of the soft tissue of the body for the purpose of stablishing or maintaining good health. This type of massage is used for a variety reasons: prevent injury, to rehabilitate, or to slow the progression of an illness. The main objective is to bring a patient to a deeper level of relaxation. It involves soft, long, kneading strokes, as well as light, rhythmic, tapping strokes, on topmost layers of muscles. 

 

The most common strokes of Swedish massage are:

  • Effleurage

  • Petrissage

  • Friction

  • Tapotement

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage involves applying firm pressure and slow strokes to reach deeper layers of muscle and fascia. The License Massage Therapy uses slow, deliberate strokes that focus pressure on layers of muscles, tendons, or other tissues deep under your skin. Deep tissue massage may be therapeutic, relieving chronic pains and helping with muscle injuries, such as sprain.

Physiological Effects:

Deep Tissue Massage reduces stress hormone levels and heart rate while boosting mood and relaxation by triggering the release of oxytocin and serotonin.
